EEPROM is a hybrid type of memory, full formed as Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory. It is a non volatile memory typically used to store data that must not be lost when power is removed and reapplied to the microcontroller. There are two types of EEPROMs :
  • Serial EEPROM - uses serial bus as electrical interface.
  • Parallel EEPROM - uses parallel bus as electrical interface.

Serial-interface EEPROMs are used in a broad spectrum of consumer, automotive, telecommuni-cation, medical, industrial and PC related markets. Some applications include:
